The Verdict
It's 100,000x stronger than BDNF in rats. It also promotes synaptogenesis in cancer cells. Fun tradeoff.
The Evidence
Dihexa (PNB-0408) was developed at Washington State University and showed extraordinary potency in promoting synaptogenesis in rodent Alzheimer's models — about 100,000-fold more potent than BDNF. That number is real and impressive. What's less discussed: synaptogenesis is also a mechanism cancer uses to spread, and the same researchers flagged concerns about tumor-promoting potential in their own papers. There are zero human trials. The compound is sold on nootropics forums to people who read the potency number and stopped reading. The full paper is worth finishing.
